The Modern Medicare Agency, covering the New York tristate area and other parts of the country, has launched a consulting service for those approaching or at age 65.

The launch of the insurance consultancy educates older Americans in this age group about their Medicare options to ensure that they do not miss the important Medicare Part B sign-up deadline.
Each day, approximately 10,000 Americans turn 65, according to the U.S. Administration on Aging.
Age 65 is an important milestone in signing up for government health insurance benefits, whether the beneficiary plans to continue working or not. If the eligible person misses the deadline for Medicare Part B when they first become eligible, they may have to pay a penalty for the rest of their lives.
Eligible seniors can sign up during a window of time from three months prior, to three months after, their 65th birthday.
Navigating Medicare, and private insurance plans that complement it, is a complex challenge that changes constantly, and differs by state.
Many seniors rely on experienced agents to explain options including original Medicare Part A, which covers hospitals, and Part B for doctor and outpatient visits. But these don’t cover everything.
Part C, or Medicare Advantage plans, are offered by private insurers, as are Part D plans for drug coverage. Medicare supplemental plans are also available to cover costs not covered by original Medicare.
Seniors may not be aware that original Medicare does not cover 100 percent of medical costs or any dental, eye glasses, or hearing aids.
In addition, many people don’t realize that Medicare does in fact cover those with disabilities regardless of age.
Paul Barrett Insurance Services is an agency that specializes in Medicare and educating seniors about their deadlines and options in securing Medicare and supplemental coverage protection based on their individual needs and the requirements of their state.
“If you are a senior citizen, or anyone else who qualifies for Medicare, and you feel overwhelmed by the many Medicare decisions you have to make–not only during periods of open enrollment, but all year round–please contact me,” Barrett said.
