Kansas City Chiefs vs. Carolina Panthers : Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes passes Dan Marino as fastest to 100 passing TDs

Travis Kelce wasn’t astounded to hear after the Kansas City Chiefs’ 33-31 triumph over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday that Patrick Mahomes had become the quickest quarterback to arrive at 100 profession score passes.

“Another record,” Kelce said. “Put it on the shelf.

“I’m looking forward to a lot more good memories, man, a lot of records to be broken.”

Mahomes tossed four score passes on Sunday, giving him 101 in his 40th ordinary season game. Corridor of Fame quarterback Dan Marino of the Miami Dolphins had recently been the quickest to 100, arriving at the achievement in 44 games.

Mahomes tossed score passes of 1 yard to Demarcus Robinson, 4 yards to Clyde Edwards-Helaire and 28 and 2 yards to Tyreek Hill on Sunday. He has 25 score passes to only one block attempt this season for the 8-1 Chiefs, who have their bye week impending.

“You’re seeing the best of him right now,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. “And some of it you might not see, the things he does behind the scenes, whether it’s the look-offs and [other] small, subtle things.

“We have full confidence that he’ll do what he needs to do to win a game. That’s how he operates.”

Mahomes tossed in any event four score passes in a game for the twelfth time in his profession, including the end of the season games. That is the most such games in the NFL in the course of the last three seasons. It’s five more than the following nearest quarterback, Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks, since the beginning of the 2018 season.

Mahomes had 50 score passes in 2018, his first season as a starter. That complete dropped last season to 26, however he’s nearly at that equivalent imprint simply past the midpoint this year.

“I think I just understand the game more,” Mahomes said. “Last year I just didn’t have as many stats to kind of [pad the total], I guess you could say. But I feel like I was playing better last year than I did the year before. This year we’re getting the touchdowns we didn’t have last year. But every year I’m more comfortable within the offense, I’m more comfortable reading the defenses and understanding where the ball is going to go even before the snap of the ball.”

Mahomes, who tossed five score passes in a week ago’s success over the New York Jets, presently positions second in the association in TD passes for the season, one spot in front of the Green Bay Packers’ Aaron Rodgers and right behind Wilson (26).

“The year he threw the 50 touchdowns he was amazing, obviously,” Hill said. “But this year it’s like he’s seeing things differently. He’s doing more no-looks, he’s reading the defense better, he’s changing the plays.”
